About Me

Hi my name is Ruth Finan. I started taking photos about 25 years ago - but it was just a hobby and I don't think I ever really knew what I was doing with my camera. If I got a fabulous photo it was purely by accident.

I started taking it more seriously when my eldest daughter took up showjumping and I used to go and photograph her attempts around the course. I also showed dogs and practiced my art on a multitude of dogs - including on the green carpet at Crufts.

I started taking dance photographs when my youngest daughter (pictured to the right) starting dancing approximately 9 year ago. Initially I concentrated on my efforts in my makeshift studio at home and at dance events. I slowly improved my technique and the understanding of lighting and how to get the best out of my camera

I now am lucky enough to have my own studio in central Wakefield, West Yorkshire. And I still love doing location photography around the local area and further afield. Please have a. look at my portfolio to see some of the work I have done.
